Taking a Trip to Nagahama and Chikubu-shima with Biwako Kisen!

In early June, myself and the other Internship students got to take a trip to Nagahama. We took the train from Otsu to Nagahama station, and then walked to the docks. We took the Biwako Kisen boat "Benten" to Chikubu-shima, the second largest island in Lake Biwa.

Chikubushima is very beautiful, and is also home to historical temples. One of the priests on the island even took us around to some of the temples and told us about them. He also took us deeper into a temple than normal, and allowed us to pray to the god for which the temple was built (our prayers were supposed to be for wealth in the form of happiness and peace).
Afterwards, we returned to Nagahama were we went to the Kurokabe Glass Company. Here, we all created a design on a glass that was then sandblasted. They make very nice souvenirs!
All of us really enjoyed our trip to the northern part of Shiga prefecture. Thank you to Matsumoto-san for taking us and Mike from the University of Shiga Prefecture and his student for helping show us around!

I also made a video of our trip, which you can watch here
